摘要: Vaginal PAP smear is frequently used for the follow-up of cervical carcinoma after primary therapy. Irradiation induced atypia can interfere with cytological analysis and thus detection a local recurrence, or simulate malignant cause unnecessary suspicion recurrence. In this retrospective study we evaluated reliability reported frequency irradiation radiotherapy. Eighty-nine patients treated at Turku University Central Hospital during years 1970-88 were included in study. During median 34 months total 697 smears taken 7.8 samples per patient. 44 (50%) had recurrent disease, which was 17 (39%) cases. Nine out 12 0-60 days before recurrence showed class III-V cellular atypia. However, three I-II, therefore false negative. The rate positive only 3%. 567 indicated as present/not present (+/-) it 89 (16%) samples. considerably higher (75%) II than rest material. detected 28% first four radiotherapy decreased thereafter. Cytological vaginal reliable indicator most cases valuable tool
