摘要: Inteins are internal protein domains found inside the coding region of different proteins. They transcribed and translated together with their host removed from unprocessed by an autocatalytic self-excision process, termed splicing. Large inteins comprise independent protein-splicing endonuclease whereas mini-inteins lack central domain. Most have been in genomes prokaryotes. In eukaryotes, they identified ~50 taxa, encoded within nuclear fungi plastomes some unicellular algae. This review focuses on fungal includes structural characteristics, splicing mechanism, distribution mobility, also considers evolutionary application aspects
