Perceptions of Resilience in School-Age Children: A Singapore Study.

摘要: Resilience is a quality that characterizes children who, though exposed to significant stress and adversity in their lives, do not succumb the school life failures predicted for them. Recent research (Grotberg, 1995; Hiew & Cormier, 1994) suggests ways schools communities can protect from threats confront individuals families. This paper reports results of an ongoing study on promoting resilience Singapore. Thirty-nine school-age care center were administered checklist (Child's Perception ofResilience Checklist by International Research Project, 1995) interviewed about perceptions resilience. Preliminary fmdings indicate draw three sources help them cope with adversities. The are based upon who what these HAVE around them, ARE, how they CAN certain things themselves. also ethnographic approach data collection provide meaningful information.
