摘要: In this study, wicking in flax fabrics was investigated through an experimental method coupled with Washburn theory. This previously shown effective for carbon (Pucci et al. [21]) to determine morphological characteristics and apparent advancing contact angles. For natural fibers, equation is not sufficient describe because of moisture sorption that causes fiber swelling during liquid imbibition. Some were submitted a thermal treatment known modify fibers chemistry. Wicking tests water performed on both at different volume ratios. It observed trend very these two types reinforcements: treated show typical linear trends described by equation, while untreated lose linearity wicking. Sorption elementary proved less significant fibers. A model proposed properly undergoing swelling.
