Etiologies and management of cutaneous flushing

摘要: The flushing phenomenon may represent a physiologic or pathologic reaction. Although is usually benign, it prudent that the physician remains aware of potentially life-threatening conditions associated with cutaneous flushing. A thorough investigation should be performed if atypical not clearly benign underlying process. diagnosis often relies on pertinent history, review systems, physical examination, and various laboratory imaging modalities, all which are discussed in 2 articles this continuing medical education series. This article reviews fever, hyperthermia, emotions, menopause, medications, alcohol, food, hypersensitivity reactions, rosacea, hyperthyroidism, dumping syndrome, superior vena cava neurologic etiologies.
