An Introduction to Entomopathogenic Microorganisms

摘要: Lepidopteran insect pests cause huge economic losses in the agricultural sector by damaging crop yield fields as well stored produce. Although chemical pesticides have long been used for their control, harmful effects of indiscriminate use led to alarming environmental and health safety issues around globe. Use development biological control agents (BCAs) has considered an environmentally sustainable alternative. Soil microorganisms like viruses, bacteria, fungi nematodes are natural enemies lepidopteran insects. Their potential BCAs is safe without any toxic residues effective against target pests. Integrated pest management strategies involving a combination these also being developed.
