摘要: Findings from an on-going investigation into the effects of soil properties and cement content on physical characteristics compressed earth blocks mortars are presented. A series test were fabricated using a range composite soils, stabilised with 5% 10% cement, compacted manual press. Results for saturated compressive strength, drying shrinkage, wetting/drying durability, water absorption testing presented in paper. In conjunction block tests, workability strength suitable soil: cement: lime: sand also studied. Mortar consistency was assessed cone penetrometer slump tests. Water retention measured. For given compactive effort, durability improved increasing reducing clay content. Slump proved most reliable means assessing mortar consistency. Both flow table tests found to be unsuitable. appear well-suited typical unit characteristics. strengths closely related contents, but as expected less than average strengths.
