摘要: Introduction: Ceramic brackets have gained increasing popularity among dental clinicians and orthodontic patients but friction is a major concern when using them. This study sought to assess the effects of diode Nd: YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) laser irradiation on forces between two types ceramic rhodium-coated esthetic archwires.Methods: Thirty polycrystalline 30 poly-sapphire were divided into 6 groups (n=10) as follows: (I) control (no irradiation), (II) subjected irradiation, (III) (IV) (V) (VI) irradiation. The bracket slots laser-irradiated custom-made table. Sixty 5-cm pieces archwires used for test in universal testing machine at speed 10 mm/min. Ten from six underwent scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDX).Results: frictional resistance value was significantly higher than that brackets, irrespective type (P 0.05).Conclusion: It appears cannot decrease friction. Future studies are warranted different with variable exposure.
