摘要: There have been many surveys of public responses to Autonomous Vehicles (AVs), both reported in peer-reviewed journals and the mainstream media. People anchor their representations novel technological objects within existing experience. What elements such experience AVs? We review academic English language survey studies from 2015 2017 publicised UK National newspapers which typically reveal discomfort about prospect AVs. Against this background we report results our own 11,827 drivers across 11 European countries, addressing attitudes driving alongside AVs as well riding them. establish a composite indicator perceptions that combines on using sharing road with them, analyse its relationship set covariate measures. Respondents’ optimism uptake technology was associated more positive AVs, measures respondents’ enjoyment driving, how ‘sociable’ they were towards fellow users, negative perceptions. The association between ‘sociability’ enthusiasm for attenuated by levels general optimism. discuss difficulties researching make suggestions improvement future research
