摘要: THE discovery by one of us1 the selective herbicidal activity 3,5-diiodo-4-hydroxybenzonitrile (ioxynil) and its dibromo- analogue (bromoxynil) has led here to a number other developments. Thus high these compounds in uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation2 resulted finding that they are potent molluscicides1. Again, demonstration iodide ion is liberated when ioxynil metabolized soils plants inorganic iodides useful highly herbicides3. A further development from work was examination certain 2,6-disubstituted phenols as plant growth regulators4. Some were found be active equal 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) tests5. We now report another our research on ioxynil.
