摘要: Compared to the North Atlantic Ocean, tides in Mediterranean Sea are relatively weak. The highest tide occurs Gulf of Gabes (along Tunisia), where amplitude M2 reaches 51 cm, and next found northern Adriatic (Defant, 1961; Tsimplis et al., 1995). Tidal elevations have been measured along since Middle Ages, but continuous monitoring had wait until advent modern instrumentation. Tides gauges were installed shore quite early, although majority did not remain operation, except those Trieste (since 1859) Venice 1871). A network was eventually established 1954. Long-time series tidal therefore available.
