摘要: OBJECTIVE To evaluate the role of cancer antigen CA15-3 in diagnosis, prognosis, followup and treatment breast cancer. METHODS The case-control study was done from October 2009 to February 2011 at Al-Basrah Hospital Basrah, Iraq. Blood samples were collected 30 women with primary before invasive procedure. Another set blood 23 cases after three cycles chemotherapy. Besides, 20 serum apparently healthy as a control group outpatient department. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) test used for detection CA15-3. RESULTS Mean level (79.15 +/- 27.54 U/ml) significantly higher than controls (24.34 11.68 (p < 0.05), 93.3% sensitivity 96.6% specificity. There significant positive correlation disease stage tumour size ( p 0.05). After chemotherapy, decreased Cases who developed recurrence found have those did not CONCLUSION is an important diagnostic, prognostic indicator good predictor relapse.
