摘要: Intense beams of highly-stripped ions are now routinely produced at low velocities using the Brookhaven dual MP-tandems in a unique four-stage accel/decel mode. This mode operation combines three stages acceleration, stripping high energy, and one stage deceleration to near-zero velocity. To date, experiments have used 10-100 nA bare few-electron heavy energies as 0.2 MeV/amu, upgrades facility should push lower limit below 0.1 MeV/amu. Recent experiments, such measurements charge transfer x-ray production for S6-16+ on He Ar 6-20 MeV P(b) MO x-rays Cl16+ + collisions 20, 10 5 demonstrated usefulness highly-stripped, low-velocity projectiles. These few possibilities future discussed.
