摘要: Abstract Background Morphoanatomical MRI methods have recently begun to be applied in the mouse. However, substantial differences anatomical organisation of human and rodent brain prevent a straightforward extension clinical neuroimaging tools mouse imaging. As result, vast majority published approaches rely on tailored routines that address single morphoanatomical readouts typically lack sufficiently-detailed description complex workflow required process images quantify structural alterations. New method Here we provide detailed semi-automated registration-based procedures for voxel based morphometry, cortical thickness estimation automated labelling brain. The approach relies sequential use advanced image processing offered by ANTs, flexible open source toolkit freely available scientific community. Results To illustrate our procedures, described their application morphological alterations socially-impaired BTBR mice with respect normosocial C57BL/6J controls, comparison us other research groups. We show can reliably detect both focal large-scale grey matter using complementary readouts. Comparison existing No operational workflows imaging are direct methods. empirical assessment mapped inter-strain is good agreement findings groups analogous approaches. Conclusion here expected help implementation non-expert users, ultimately promote these across preclinical
