摘要: Network access technologies have evolved significantly in the last years. They deploy novel mechanisms like reactive capacity allocation and time-slotted operation to optimize overall network capacity. From a single node's perspective, such optimizations decrease determinism measurement repeatability. Evolving application fields machine (M2M) communications or real-time gaming often strict requirements operate correctly. Highly accurate delay measurements are necessary monitor compliance with demands detect deviations of normal behavior, which may be caused by failures, misconfigurations attacks. This paper analyzes factors that challenge active modern networks. It introduces Representative Delay Measurement tool (RDM) addresses these proposes solutions conform recently published RFC7312. results acquired using RDM live networks confirm advanced methods can improve quality samples isolating systematic behavior. The resulting high-quality one prerequisite for statistics support proper subsequent algorithms applications.
