摘要: This paper aims to present highlights and challenges related the design of an air-cooled electric motor able replace traditional actuation system tail rotor in helicopters. The application is presented reporting requirements for critical aspects. Hence steps technical choices are detailed evaluated by mean 2D 3D Finite Element models. adoption advanced materials along with accurate mechanical allow obtain high power densities as required aircraft application. Transient thermal analyses healthy mode faulty operation have been used both refine verify performances at early project validate final design.
