摘要: A DNA-dependent ATPase has been purified from E.coli infected with bacteriophage T4. The enzyme a low molecular weight and is not detectable in uninfected E.coli. In the presence of DNA, ATP cleaved to ADP inorganic phosphate. Calf thymus DNA heat-denatured T4 T7 DNA's stimulate ATPase. However, native do activate enzyme. addition breakdown, catalyzes dATP and, lesser extent, CTP degradation their respective diphosphates. No exo- or endonucleolytic activity detected. role reaction currently under investigation.
