摘要: Abstract The fatty acid esters produced using monohydric alcohols have a wide range of applications in the cosmetic and personal care products. conventional method for production has several drawbacks such as product quality degradation due to relatively long exposure heat, necessity catalyst neutralization relative high alcohol demand. reactive distillation (RD) process overcomes these drawbacks. isopropyl palmitate (IPP) RD column is reported present study. reaction was catalyzed by zinc acetate supported on silica gel. A pilot plant 102 mm diameter with packing height 3 m designed, fabricated used experimental studies. parameters total feed flow rate (30–100 mol/h), reboiler duty (0.5–2.0 kW), palmitic (PA) composition (40–100 mol%), PA temperature (80– 120 ∘ C ), molar ratio isopropanol (1–2) reflux (0.5–2.5) were varied during optimum values obtained 50 mol/h, 0.64 kW, 100 mol%, , 2 0.5, respectively within average IPP purity 86 mol% conversion 94% at operating conditions. data validate theoretical predictions from steady-state model rate-based model. matched results qualitatively quantitatively.
