摘要: Background There has been an increasing interest in studying the potential benefits of so-called complementary and alternative approaches for pain management, such as hypnosis mindfulness-based interventions. More recently, researchers have interested effects spiritual practices on experience well. These may increase tolerance, result a positive re-appraisal influence other psychological variables that are known to be associated with experience. The purpose this study is evaluate compare immediate self-hypnosis, mindfulness meditation, intervention relative control condition tolerance reducing intensity pain-related stress, response experimental painful stimulation. Methods analysis Recruitment anticipated start November 2020. This randomised quantitative mixed-design repeated-measures three assessment points: baseline (T0), pre-test (T1) post-test (T2). Eligible healthy adults will one four conditions. Interventions 20-minute audio-guided practice either or Christian prayer. Participants group not instructed use any specific strategy during submitted first cycle Cold Pressor Arm Wrap. They then listen audio recording inducing interventions, or, case group, text from natural history textbook. Primary outcomes tolerance. Pain-related stress measured by salivary cortisol level heart rate variability secondary outcomes. Ethics dissemination was approved ISPA—University Institute’s internal Committee Research 3rd December 2018 (reference I/010/12/2018). Findings published peer-reviewed indexed journals presented at conferences. Trial registration number ClinicalTrials.gov registry (NCT04491630). Stage: pre-results.
