摘要: Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) occurs in all races and cultures, population-related differences frequency may provide etiological clues. The present study was designed to explore the prevalence of PD Parkinsonism Pakistan, world's sixth most populous country, for which no published data are available.Methods: We conducted a three-phase door-to-door survey two districts Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province assess sample 4,000 individuals aged 50 years above.Results: identified 14 cases Parkinsonism, eleven with diagnosis idiopathic PD. overall estimates were 1.7/100 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.9-2.46) 1.28/ 100 ( 95% CI: 0.6-1.94) persons 65 above. age-standardized above), normalized USA population 2000, 1.33/100, is similar that observed other human populations. Of total cases, five newly diagnosed four had family history PD.Conclusion: estimated rates Pakistan those familial also equivalent previous estimates.
