摘要: PURPOSE Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy (FAP) patients. Erythropoietin (EPO) a cytokine that has been shown to play role neuroprotection and endogenously produced eye. EPO levels aqueous humor are increased eyes with glaucoma. In this study, we evaluated concentration FAP non-FAP patients, without METHODS Undiluted samples were obtained from 42 underwent glaucoma surgery, phacoemulsification, or vitrectomy. blood measured using Immulite 2000 Xpi an automatic analyzer (Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics). RESULTS The mean group 2 (75.73±13.25 mU/ml) was significantly higher than cataract (17.22±5.33 mU/ml; p<0.001), (18.82±10.16 nonglaucoma (20.62±6.22 p<0.001). There no statistically significant difference between versus (p = 0.23) 0.29). groups, there correlation ocular pressure 0.95) deviation 0.41). serum our patients 0.77). CONCLUSIONS Unlike other glaucomatous do not show potentially neuroprotective endocular production may need more aggressive management.
