摘要: A cost effective success that higher income countries could learn from Healthcare reforms in Brazil began 1988 as part of a broader sociopolitical movement at the end nearly 20 years military rule. The new constitution was underpinned by principles budgetary and political decentralisation, community participation local budget setting, acknowledgment health access to care is universal human right. This laid foundation for Sistema Unico de Saude , or Unified Health System, nationwide shift from tertiary centre based comprehensive primary care, free point use, funded taxpayer, inspired Alma-Ata Declaration 1978. Over past 15 progress Brazilian public has been remarkable. Infant mortality dropped 48 per 1000 17 1000. In just five years, hospital admissions due diabetes stroke have decreased 25%, proportion children under 5 old who are underweight fallen 67%, over 75% women now receive seven more antenatal consultations, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (DTP) vaccine coverage less than 1 year greater 95% most municipalities. …
