摘要: Many Density-Management Diagrams (DMD) have been developed for conifer species throughout the world based on stand density index (SDI). The diagrams often plot logarithm of average tree size (volume, weight, or quadratic mean diameter) over trees per unit area. A new type DMD is presented slash pine (Pinus elliottii var elliottii) plantations where SDI plotted age. This proposed eliminates two existing problems with current DMDs: (1) need to estimate age from other measures found traditional DMDs, and (2) a second variable also directly dependent either can be placed third axis. Plotting clearly shows when thinnings conducted obtain certain size-density objective both in terms Yet this does not violate well-known principle that DMDs are independent Understory models usually using an overstory measure includes area diameter (i.e. basal area) making it difficult include them DMDs. allows understory vegetation development easily included DMD. provides natural resource manager ability see what impacts particular sizedensity has production time.
