摘要: Electrostatic interactions govern most properties of polyelectrolyte films, as in the photoinduced birefringence azo-containing polymers. In this paper we report a systematic investigation optical storage characteristics cast and layer-by-layer (LbL) films poly[1 -[4-(3-carboxy-4 hydroxyphenylazo) benzene sulfonamido]-1,2-ethanediyl, sodium salt] (PAZO). Birefringence was faster PAZO prepared at high pHs, with characteristic writing times decreasing almost linearly pH range between 4 9. This attributed to an increased free volume for azochromophores enhanced electrostatic repulsion charged greater extent. contrast, LbL alternated poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH), oppositely polymers hampered photoisomerization molecular rearrangement, thus leading slower kinetics highly
