Physical therapists' perceptions about patients with incomplete post-traumatic paraplegia adherence to recommended home exercises: a qualitative study.

摘要: Abstract Background The overall purpose of physical therapy for patients with spinal cord injury is to improve health-related quality life. However, poor adherence a problem in and may have negative impact on outcomes. Objectives To explore the therapists’ perspectives about incomplete post-traumatic paraplegia recommended home exercises. Methods A qualitative content analysis was conducted. Data were collected convenience sample using semi-structured interviews. Thirteen registered therapists Athens area participated study. Results Five categories emerged from data: (1) reasons recommend exercise by therapist; (2) obstacles (3) methods addressing these obstacles; (4) family's role exercise; (5) financial crisis exercise. All participants found exercises essential rehabilitation health maintenance, they value their benefits. They also expressed that need be faced during process order promote adherence.
