摘要: DNA methylation has a crucial role in plant development regulating gene expression and silencing of transposable elements. Maintenance plants occurs at symmetrical m CG CHG contexts ( = methylated) is maintained by METHYL- TRANSFERASE 1 (MET1) CHROMOMETHYL- ASE (CMT) methyltransferase protein families, respectively. While angiosperm genomes encode for sev- eral members MET1 CMT the moss Phy- scomitrella patens, serving as model early divergent land plants, carries single member each family.
