摘要: Abstract Neurons and axons responding to somesthetic stimulation in the thalamic ventrobasal complex (VB) were characterized electrophysiologically by intracellular recording then individually injected with horseradish peroxidase. Two types of thalamocortical relay neuron identified, primarily basis dendritic morphology axon diameter. Types cutaneous or deep receptive fields found each class. Neither type had collateral VB but gave branches reticular nucleus (RTN). Small putative interneurons RTN neurons somatosensory also injected. The profusely branched widely ramifying adjoining nuclei. Injected medial lemniscal a range field properties conduction velocities ended elongated anteroposterior domains one more dense concentrations terminal boutons varying size numbers boutons.
