摘要: Australia’s endemic Grey Falcon is an iconic but elusive bird of the arid interior. Whilst reviews its ecology and status are more than 25 years old, new targeted studies include a population size estimate that considerably lower (<1,000 individuals) one previously advanced (<5,000 individuals). According to this revised estimate, Falcon’s national conservation should be considered ‘Vulnerable’, species not declared threatened under Australian legislation. A ‘threatened’ listing could, however, expected if support for becomes available. prerequisite investigations aiming test determine what may threaten future species, comprehensive understanding species’ ecology. Our analysis relevant literature on shows unique among congeners in persisting exclusively hot arid/semi-arid environment, strong dietary restriction. Further, young Falcons live close company their parents up year after fledging, would raptors correct. Finally, environment characterised by extreme, unpredictable climatic events, how these birds interact with environmental features key assessing possible responses climate change.
