摘要: Several authors have claimed that radiocarbon dates in the Ancient Near East are too early. Herein, a hypothesis might explain this is presented. Marine degassing of "old" carbon (i.e. 14 C-deficient C), induced by upwelling old sub- surface water, has been observed, modern times, to cause century-scale C ages atmosphere. A review Mediterranean Sea post-ice-age circulation concludes subsurface waters became very old, primarily due millennia- long stagnation. It hypothesized as stagnation ended, were brought towards surface, where they degassed carbon. Additionally, Anatolian dendrochronology shown not contradict hypothesis.
