摘要: Propionate produced in the colon from fermentation of alpha-amylase-resistant starch and non-starch polysaccharides, is cholesterol lowering gluconeogenic animal models. In humans, little known about effect propionate on metabolism. a double-blind, paired-comparison, placebo-controlled study, diet 10 healthy female volunteers, aged 20-22 yr, was supplemented for period 7 wk with 7.5 g sodium daily capsule form, while control group members dibasic calcium phosphate identical capsules as placebo. supplementation did not lower total serum (TC), but increased HDLC (9.5%) (p less than 0.05) triglyceride levels (16.7%, p 0.02) decreased fasting glucose maximum insulin increments during tolerance tests 0.05). The results suggest that improvement sensitivity beneficial dietary fiber HDL metabolism may part be mediated through effects hepatic carbohydrate
