Compact binary mergers: an astrophysical perspective

摘要: This paper reviews the current understanding of double neutron star and black hole binaries. It addresses mainly (nuclear) astrophysics aspects compact binary mergers thus complements recent that have emphasized numerical relativity viewpoint. In particular, discusses different channels to release neutron-rich matter into host galaxy, connections between short Gamma-ray bursts accompanying electromagnetic signals.
