Newspaper debates on milk fats and vegetable oils in Finland, 1978-2013: An analysis of conflicts over risks, expertise, evidence and pleasure.

摘要: The study analysed public debates on the association of milk fats, vegetable oils and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) between 1978 2013 in Finland, a country with decades-long history health initiatives targeting fat consumption. main agendas, conflicts participants were analysed. data collected from newspaper Helsingin Sanomat consisted 52 threads 250 texts. We identified four themes around which there repeated, often overlapping conflicts: risks saturated expertise consumption, adequate evidence framing question. During research period, arguments effects consumption fats have remained same. References to epidemiological intervention studies question as issue, been ongoing, has definition what constitutes genuine expertise. Yet, we also found discontinuities. In early 2000s new emphases began emerge: personal experiences increasingly presented dietary choices human health, was framed either one enjoyment or consumers' right choose rather than only being Moreover, professional groups such chefs creative professionals now joined discussion.
