摘要: Acute upper airway obstruction presents an immediate threat to life. Following loss of the airway, hypoxemia with resultant cardiac arrest and death can ensue within minutes. Inspiratory stridor (a harsh, usually high–pitched sound) is hallmark obstruction. This not say, however, that cannot occur in absence stridor, because profound degrees may manifest silently if airflow nearly absent. When confronted a child who has acute obstruction, practitioner must assess degree quickly accurately. The possibility progression complete be appreciated. Delaying intervention whose unstable costly, but unnecessary instrumentation stable precipitate crisis.
