摘要: The independent island nations of the South Pacific have a rich and threatened terrestrial biota. Despite considerable investment resources into conservation over last three decades, biodiversity is dwindling protected area systems remain inadequate. This lack success caused by important differences in cultural, economic, landownership, social factors developing Island countries, compared to developed that often fund programs plans. obvious need for capacity building information exchange among stakeholders, little collaboration development has eventuated. A coordinated integrated approach, focusing on national priorities, essential achieve efficient conservation. will include active involvement landowners, good sociocultural understanding target communities, improved between various provision sustainable alternative economic activities, commitment long funding cycles projects.
