摘要: The dynamic viscosity (μ) of stimulated whole saliva in a typical pre-orthodontic sample population was characterized as function temperature (T). Samples were collected from 30 adolescents or young adults, after screening for factors that are known to have an effect on salivary viscosity. Using cone and plate viscometer, 1.5 ml evaluated at constant shear rate 450 s-1 T=20°C T=40°C. Data the μ-T plots showed negative dependence form, μ=a−bT, over range μ 1.08 2.45 centipoise (cps) 34°C. Most samples fell into narrow envelope, where mean ranged 2.42±0.61 cps 20°C 1.57±0.32 37°C. With regard stability, viscosity-time indicated small but predictable decrease occurred during 3 h period. generated fresh frozen demonstrated appreciable change result refrigeration. reproducibility, viscometric data obtained patient 1-week period fluctuated within fairly broad envelope values.
