摘要: We explore the trophic role that a diverse sympatric group of fishes in genus Chirostoma play large, shallow lake central Mexico, Lake Chapala. use δ13C and δ15N stable isotope - based food web analyses to how they relate other components Chapala ecosystem. find five species top levels compared fishes, relying on combination zooplankton, fish benthic resources as energy sources. Food metric showed generally overlapping niches for members Chirostoma, especially terms δ13C. However, C. jordani had lower mean isotopic values than promelas. As group, "pescados blancos" (C. sphyraena promelas) also higher signatures "charales" consocium, labarcae) reflecting greater piscivory, but these differences were not strong all metrics used. Trophic overlap among raises questions about forces might have led morphologically functionally similar monophyletic species.
