摘要: Abstract It is still debatable whether or not mucilage covering root tips can contribute to aluminium (Al) resistance. For the issue, hydroponic culture used in most studies may be responsible since such impedance-free environment roots make production poor. We therefore investigated and Al sensitivity seedlings of maize (Zea mays L.) hydroponically grown with without sand as mechanical impedance. The presence clearly enhanced than absence regarding either number secreting it its volume per tip. Supplying AlCl3 at various concentrations for 7 d, inhibited length corresponding accumulation occurred only 10 µM sand. With sand, however, was negligible until 100 µM, even 1 mM approximately 70% did accumulate Al, resulting no significant inhibition length. Root collected from were divided into mucilage, then exposed 10 min. became lower having absence, supporting a protective role against Al. However, removing could affect probably due rapid recovery within 5 min, making removal treatment invalid. In conclusion, there doubt that impedance bring strong resistance via secrete rather greater
