摘要: The formation of vortex streets behind stationary cylinders is found to be caused by an absolute instability in the wake immediately cylinder. inviscid Orr–Sommerfeld equation used together with measured profiles at Reynolds numbers (a) Re = 56 when provides a Strouhal number 0.13; and (b) 140000 providing 0.21, both agreement experimental values. At subcritical 34 convective type; i.e. disturbance decays, being convected away once external removed, observations. Finally, mode which causes symmetric array vortices shown always type.
