Healthy Ageing in Place: Enablers and Barriers from the Perspective of the Elderly. A Qualitative Study

摘要: Background: Most elderly people wish to grow old at their own homes. The sociodemographic characteristics; home and neighbourhood conditions; the social services support networks are determinants in possibility of “ageing place”. present study aimed explore ageing place phenomenon, as well enablers barriers that interact a healthy from perspective connected local entities. Methods: A generic qualitative design was proposed Health Region Girona Catalonia (Spain). Seventy-one were purposefully selected. Six focus groups conducted, data thematically analysed. Results: Three key themes generated: (1) Participants experienced differently. physical mental health, family environment financial stability elements for life quality. (2) perception elderly’s role community depended on age, health status attitude towards life. (3) participants identified several place. Conclusions: promotion older people’s autonomy wellbeing, together with creation an active network services, may improve age avoid or delay institutionalisation.
