摘要: Stochastic computing (SC) hinges on the generation and use of stochastic bitstreams—streams randomly generated 1s 0s, with probabilities p 1 − p, respectively. We consider approaches for bitstream generation, considering randomness, circuit area/performance/cost, impact various SC accuracy. first review widely used Linear-Feedback Shift Register (LFSR)-based approach variants. Alternative low-discrepancy sequences are then discussed, followed by techniques that leverage post-CMOS technologies metastability devices as sources randomness. conclude a discussion correlations between bitstreams, how (1) can be reduced/eliminated, (2) may actually leveraged to positive effect in certain circumstances.
