摘要: Abstract Objectives Pediatric fractures suspicious for abuse are often evaluated in emergency departments (ED), although corresponding diagnostic coding possible may be lacking. Thus, the primary objective of this study was to determine proportion fracture cases investigated ED that had International Classification Diseases (ICD) codes documenting suspicion. Additional objectives were these with admission ICD coding, and physician text diagnoses recording suspicion and/or notes. Factors possibly associated abuse-related also examined. Methods Children less than three years age presented primarily a two large academic children's hospitals from 1997 2007 by child protective services included retrospective review. The main outcome measure reflected discharge codes. Results Of 216 eligible patients, only 23 (11.5%) patients possibility abuse. Forty-nine (22.7%) documented physicians as an diagnosis. In addition, 53/149 (35.6%) all admitted 34/55 (61.8%) confirmed coding.
