摘要: From the time of Hippocrates, codes professional ethics have prohibited mercy killing by doctors, and it remains illegal for a physician to actively assist in death patient. In recent years, however, many social forces combined lead heightened public debate about morality legality physician-assisted dying. Washington State California, example, proponents dying gathered sufficient signatures place initiatives on ballots calling aid under carefully regulated defined circumstances.1 Both were defeated narrow margins after extensive media campaigns financed part right-to-life organizations.
