Modulated Structures of Adsorbed Rare Gas Monolayers

摘要: The structure of rare gas adlayers is determined by the interplay between mutual interaction atoms and atom with substrate. Depending on relative magnitude these interactions different types structures first monolayer appear: if dominant adlayer incommensurate When are same order, a large variety phases (incommensurate -I-, commensurate -C-, higher order -HOC) appear depending temperature, coverage substrate bulk crystal. By varying temperature and/or whole series visited from commensurate, over striped hexagonal incommensurate, to rotated, which ends in high phase. In there both second phase transitions. On other hand, when lock-in forces dominate, all or fraction adatoms will always lock into preferential adsorption sites phases, repsectively, energetically favored respect true floating structures.
