摘要: A computer-controlled four-roll mill is used to examine two transient modes of deformation a liquid drop: elongation in steady flow and interfacial-tension-driven motion which occurs after the stopped abruptly. For modest extensions, drop breakup does not occur with on, but may following cessation as result deterministic motions associated internal pressure gradients established by capillary forces. These relaxation phenomena depend on initial shape relative viscosities fluids. Capillary-wave instabilities at fluid-fluid interface are observed only for highly elongated drops. This study natural extension G. I. Taylor's original studies burst droplets well-defined fields.
