Clinical profile of dengue infection in a tertiary care hospital

摘要: Background: Dengue is a major international health concern that prevalent in tropical and sub-tropical countries. The total burden of febrile illnesses presents to primary facilities due dengue different parts Karnataka largely unknown. Objective: objective was study the clinical manifestations, trend, outcome cases admitted tertiary care hospital. Materials Methods: Prospective conducted over period 6 months (July-December 2013) hospital at Bangalore. serology done for all suspected subjects by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method. Detailed demographic details were taken admission serial close monitoring signs symptoms watch progression disease. Results: Of 100 children with probable fever, 57 had confirmed illness. these cases, most male, 34 (60%) age group 5 15 years mean 7.5±4.7 years. Among common presentation fever (100%), followed abdominal pain 37 (65%), rashes 31 (54%), myalgia 26 (46%), vomiting 23 (40%) cases. hemorrhagic manifestation cutaneous bleeding manifestations like petechiae. 46 patients no warning signs, 8 3 severe dengue. Conclusion: Clinical seem be changing. Fever, rash, body ache are still manifestations; however, clinicians endemic areas should aware unusual novel presentations such as fulminant hepatic failure, splenomegaly, myocarditis also.
