摘要: Abstract Fluorescent chitosan- graft -polyethyleneimine (PEI) copolymer was prepared by incorporating PEI molecule onto chitosan backbone through naphthalimide moiety simple substitution reaction. 4-Bromo-1,8-naphthalic anhydride used as fluorescent probe due to its strong fluorescence and good photo-stability property the presence of a fine tunable bromide functional group in ring, this work. The characterized FTIR, elemental analysis XRD. determined UV–vis spectrometer spectrofluorometer. effects pH temperature on were also studied. with degree 37.6 showed better complexation ability DNA at comparatively low N/P (nitrogen phosphate ratio) ratio 1.0 compared that (N/P 2.0). cytotoxicity largely decreased after grafting all copolymers above 50% cell viability even high polymer concentration (300 μg/mL). Therefore, -PEI may be biological marker well drug or gene carrier toxicity.
