摘要: Objective. To investigate potential associations between interleukin-10 (IL-10) promoter polymorphisms and susceptibility to, clinical features of, giant cell arteritis (GCA). Methods. A total of 140 patients with biopsyproven GCA who were residents Reggio Emilia, Italy, 200 population-based controls from the same geographic area genotyped for IL-10 gene, by molecular methods. The subgrouped according to presence or absence polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) ischemic complications (any all following: vision loss, jaw claudication, cerebrovascular accidents, aortic arch syndrome). Results. distribution C/A 592 genotype differed significantly (P corr 0.003). Carriers A592 allele (A/A C/A) more frequent among than (Pcorr 0.004, odds ratio [OR] 2.0 [95% confidence interval (95% CI) 1.3–3.1]). Homozygosity was 0.002, OR 3.4 CI 1.6–7.2]). A/G 1082 similar in controls. In haplotype analysis, frequency ATA higher 0.0001), whereas frequencies ACC GTA haplotypes lower 0.0001 both comparisons). No significant found comparisons those without PMR complications. Conclusion. Our findings show that polymorphism gene is associated GCA.
