摘要: After briefly assessing the present situation of East European railways, this article discusses how to transform their future prospects. In Eastern Europe, rail has an unusually large share transport, because it is continually being favoured by governments. There also a low car ownership and poor network motorways, leading reduced mobility. The liberalisation Europe will lead more exchanges goods services, both internally with Western so that transport system needs expand. today's situation, railway management should change radically quickly; railways need autonomy freedom action. Railways radical modernisation, which choose clear priorities, provide better service respect speed, comfort, safety, reliability, environmental protection. Priorities for improvement include: (1) higher speed; (2) upgrading Berlin- Warsaw-Moscow Berlin-Prague-Vienna-Budapest-Belgrade-Thessaloniki routes; (3) frontier crossings; (4) improving rolling stock; (5) adopting new technologies; (6) establishing supranational freight information system. A commercial policy needed.
