摘要: The optimal form of post-operative analgesia in hip and knee arthroplasty is still debated. Traditionally, patient-controlled epidural anaesthesia were used. Potential side-effects such as nausea, confusion, urinary retention, hypotension immobility have resulted the emergence newer techniques that limit opioid use. Peripheral nerve blockade provides excellent but limits patient ability to ambulate immediate period. Local infiltrative (LIA) an emerging technique has shown provide superior analgesia, higher satisfaction earlier discharge from hospital when compared some more traditional methods. This review article highlights advantages LIA surgery. We describe used, including additional measures aid early ambulation this cohort patients.
