摘要: We investigate hygroscopic growth of marine aerosols from three research cruises: TexAQS-GoMACCS 2006, ICEALOT 2008 and CalNex 2010. Particle was characterized by measuring the effect water uptake under sub-saturated conditions on aerosol light extinction at 532 nm. Mie theory calculations were utilized to convert observed optical factors (fext(RH)) into physical (GF) 85% RH. GF is found be a more robust measure than fext(RH), which can biased changes in dry size. Consistent with previous observations, overall GF(85%) for submicron depended fraction organics. The GFOM(85%) specifically range 1.0-1.3 all campaigns. A positive linear dependence supermicron mass sea salt observed. During TexAQS, two types dust particles distinct properties identified mode; one that originated Sahara desert moderately (GFdust(85%) = ~1.4) other continental sources nearly hydrophobic. organics estimated through hygroscopicity closure calculations. Supermicron substantially those sources, latter having similar This study demonstrates potential using measurements retrieve factor underlines importance need future investigations aerosols.
